When I started my search for hunter safety classes, my search generated an online course. Does this make the cut for the state of IL? If not i will just register for the 2 days of classes at oak forest park district. Thanks for your help.

I was just at a class to get involved in teaching these classes because there just are not enough volunteers. So, hopefully we might see some more classes here in the area soon! :D

Pine Tree Pistol Club in Rockford who hosted the DNR meeting, does the Hunter Saftey classes, and I believe they do some field days there as well.

Hope this helps.

booper9,
Yes.
The class does in fact "make the cut" for the state of Illinois "IDNR"

If you do take the online coarse, you will then need to follow up with a "field day" and that is where you will be handed your certificate. If you pass. lol

The online coarse is free. However, there will be a $25.00 dollar charge to print off the voucher for the field day. The charge of monies is for the online coarse web site to maintain the records of your test and in no way are given to the IDNR.

Everyone.

The Hunter Safety coarse is taught by volunteers and you can find a list of times, days and locations on the IDNR web site.
If you have a problem locating one near you, feel free to pm me and I can assist you at getting into a class.

Bob

Thanks again to everyone for participating our 50th annual Chain O' Lakes Ice Fishing Tournament and Winter Festival.
We are all volunteers at the Northern Illinois Conservation Club and we are here for you, the outdoor, environmentally conscious community. Look for upcoming Hunter Safety classes, Boater Safety classes, Trapper Safety classes, and Snowmobile Safety classes. Birds of Prey educational classes, Outdoor Youth Event (Hands on hunting and fishing intro), Plant and tree identification walk, and more. We also use the money from this event to award one scholarship to a student pursuing an environmentally centered degree.

I have a question for you, do you have a passion for something outdoor related? Do you like to talk about it? Have you ever been interested in teaching a class? Send me an email, if you would like to teach a class we have a clubhouse in Antioch that seats 30 people.

Russ,
Thank you for finding that post.
I searched for it a couple different times. I met Pete at the show in Rosemont and could not remember his CTA member name.
He seemed to be a person that was passionate about what he was doing.

I just completed the Hunter Safety course at Dick's Sporting Goods in Schaumburg. They have the course once a month -Friday fromr 6-9pm and Saturday from 9 am - 5pm. You can call them and see if they have any openings in the coming months. I signed up in December.
