.....I just wished it would have better news for me. Didn't draw shotgun tags for the Chain, not too happy about it. After Pheasant hunting there last year with Captain Jim and Michigander and seeing lots of deer sign I thought I'd give it a try for permits. No luck though. I guess its time for me to keep my ears open and hope I can find someone with a "great aunt" or a "friend" that has some land in Illinois that no one hunts and wouldn't mind someone gun hunting it. It could happen!? :) We'll have to see. Good luck to everyone else who applied! As long as you weren't going for public land I'm sure you were successful!

Here is a link to check the IDNR site to see if you were pulled in the lottery.

http://neonwebh.cmcf.state.il.us:8080/con/deerinq

Shows mine were pulled and I was lucky enough to get 4 permits for Pike. 2 shotgun and 2 muzzle loader. Sad to say that all my venison from the four last year are almost gone. I might have to start shooting moose with the amount my two boys are eating now. :D

Good Luck everyone.

A muzzleloader tag for the special hunt area my dad mentioned above is good for the muzzleloader season on December 10, 11 & 12 only. A site specific permit is also required and can be obtained free of charge from the office. The site specific permits have been available in years past starting early September.
Hope this helps.

So I got two shotgun tags for Knox county that I dont know if I am going to use cause I dont like shooting the shotgun. I am much more excited about bow hunting. I am planning on hunting my uncles two farms the week before shotgun season. That week last year I saw more big bucks on his first farm. I cant wait to get the new recurve out with some wood arrows! The new Farm looks to be a better hunting spot then then old one is!

I got 3 permits this yr. for our leased land in Iroquios Co. 2 Shotgun Tags , and 1 Either-Sex MuzzleLoader Tag . The total deer kill was down 20-25% last yr. due to the corn standing till late in the season . Ought to be a few Deer around this yr. Im sure a few Bucks made it too . Might get lucky on a Bruiser .

I got a permit for JTA. I've never hunted there before so who knows how it will be but I've seen and heard of some nice deer taken out of there. Last year I hunted Midewin, didn't get any shots at any big ones, passed on a couple does and a spike.
