The group of bucks hanging around my back yard still have antlers as well as a couple of bruisers whose core bedding area I've been watching. Anyone picking up any drops?

During the last shot gun season at the end of January, one of the guys I hunt with sent me a text that he put down a real big doe with his muzzle loader. When he climbed out of the tree to retrieve her, he found that she was a he that had dropped both his antlers already. They saw two others that had one antler each. I have been looking in an area of a forest preserve near me that has some huge bucks in it. Been checking where they bed and where there are still fresh rubs, but nothing yet here.

I found my first one here in southern Cook County on Jan. 4th.
I know of someone that found a large matched set in Dec.

I saw 2 big boys with their antlers this past week in Dupage. I've always heard they're all shed after Valentines Day. My experience is pretty much in line with that....

From what I've read the biologists say that any time after the bucks breed the gene that supplies nutrients to the antlers goes dormant and the tissue that holds them on the head dries out. I guess its possible to find them any time after Dec. A guy at work showed me a pic on his phone today of a real nice pair found in the Braidwood area.
