What exactly are you needing help with? Property, set up, calling? I am willing to dust off the ol' coffin blind and help you guys next year. can help with set up and calling for ya. Hell if you really want a adventure Ken G and I went on a mission after duck season and took geese from a Kank blind on the river, just remind me to bring a long net

I am assuming your friend is 18, in regards to having his own shotgun? or you guys have been going with a adult.

I live up in Antioch. Got an 18 and 16 yo. My daughter is next to get in. I certainly want to see young folks get into the sport. Keep in touch as I found some natural flooded areas on two cornfields i hunt. Youth hunt their might be incredble. Working hard to get more permission this spring and summer. More to follow.

Pretty sure that you need to be 18 to be hunting by yourself. I started out just like you not to long ago. I was 16 and had nobody to take me out and teach me anything. Spent the last 5 years teaching myself everything. Its pretty tough now with everybody scared of lawsuits and everything, its nothing personal. Not many people are going to be willing to take anybody under 18 hunting, especially without a parent. Just keep reading and talking to guys on the forum and things will get better.

Negative. If you have a FOID card and liscensed properly, you can hunt alone. I got a warning ticket last year from a game warden for being in the woods with my 10 YEAR OLD (no spectators) according to the game warden, during the Youth Seasons an adult must be with them, but during regular seasons unless you are hunting together then no adult required (especially deer, no permit on the adult-cannot be with the kid) go figure. I got a warning ticket in the youth season for not being with my 14yo, then in regular season got a warning for being with the 10yo???????????? Just passin on what was explained to me.

I would like to add that this is only true on state owned land. No spectators without a permit on state property! The state does not want anyone out on the state property who is not hunting. I believe it is a liability issue, and makes it easier to enforce the rules as far as buying the hunting licenses. Hunting private land is a whole different situation.

My wife goes fishing and phesant hunting with me and our uncle but other than bow hunting I don't have the least bit of an idea how to get started and I can't afford a membership, so if you guys got anything that could help me out it'd be great! I'm starting my son squirel hunting this fall and he's 8 and can't wait to eat his fresh killed game!
Thanks guys
