I got my Grand Slam from Waukegan in the month of July. I finished it off with a 5.5 lb coho tonight.

Unfortunately there weren't anymore fish caught by us or anyone else as far as I know. We left around 9:30 or so, so maybe some other fishermen that stayed out later than us had more luck.

Oh, and my definition of a shore slam from waukegan is a ho, king, brown and steelie.

What did you nab the ho on tonight? Hoping to get out there soon. Was going to head out there tonight but just to much going on with my daughters birthday coming up and money is getting to tight. Congrats on the Grand Slam, had a few of those in the past over the winter. I have only had 2 bumps in the past 9 days I've been out. Hope to make it out again soon, maybe this weekend when some of the family is in. Really want to have a chance to take my dad and uncle out in a successful charter in August! Need to be successful on that as we will be feeding a lot of people!

Nice Ho man but a true slam is a Coho, King, Steelie, brown, and Laker caught in 1 outing which is true achievement for a shore angler. Nice job!

Wouldn't you need a laker to really finish it off? Nice work regardless. That coho weighs more than all the coho I've caught in the 4 years I've been fishing the lakefront--2 both under 2lbs.

technically i would need a laker, but my thought is this.... waukrgan -> shore -> laker?...ever?

therefore, waukegan slam, it cool if it doesn't meet your criteria for a slam. But for me, I'm proud of all the fish I've gotten this summer in IL and to get 4 of the 5 (major) salmonid species within 10 days. It's a great accomplishment for me.

thanks tho, it was a nice coho, especially for summer time. I knew it was a coho as soon as it went crazy just flopping under water right at the pier, same thing every spring coho did i got this year.

I have a question do they stock lakers, maybe if they stock them in harbors you might come up with a granny slam catching 4 out of the 6 trout/salmon counting brook trout lol is a job well done.

Oh, there's plenty of Lakers out there. They don't return to harbor for the spawn run, though. They are typically stocked at and spawn on the deep reefs. However, if the water is cold enough, they'll venture in shallow.
