i saw a 4 foot carp 2day but it wasnt interested in any lures or baits i threw its way. what types of fake baits and lures will they go for? live bait? any suggestions?

At 4 ft. long I wonder if you had seen a grass carp?If it indeed was a common carp,that was a rather large fish.Commons seem far easier to catch,and whole kernel corn on a tightline rig is hard to beat.Chum a little bit first to get them in a biting mood.I have caught two grassies,both came on artificials,one on a small floating rapala,one on a texas rigged craw.They are fun to catch and will test your drag for sure.Here's a pic of a common carp caught on corn awhile back.

Also they have very good vision,by the time you see them,you can be sure he was very aware of you as well.Good Luck on your quest!
